What the Bleep are Textured Book Covers?
And the Fidgety Bookshop? What’s that?
Great question! Thanks for asking because you probably don’t see “textured covers” around much.
Answer: Textured covers are book covers that I’ve enhanced* by covering with several layers of non-toxic Mod Podge.
Mod Podge is a fabulous tool that can be used in zillions of craft projects as a glue, as a sealant, a finish, and a texture-adder!
*Enhanced, You Say?’'
This is an enhancement to ME but it won’t appeal to all.
I do it all for the sensation.
I am obsessed with different textures and having something fascinating for my fingers to touch is very satisfying, even though I originally started covering my book covers in Mod Podge in case I spilled something on them (likely).
But I immediately realized I adored the feeling on my fingertips whenever I held one of my textured books and it made reading even more pleasurable.
But Why Would I Buy One Instead of Doing It Myself?
That’s a question each of us can only answer for ourselves.
I’ve told you what I use — books and Mod Podge.
If you want to do it yourself, absolutely do it! It’s very fun and I do not want anyone to think they can’t dive right into it today.
Get some Mod Podge from your local art supply store, whenever possible.
Some people don’t have time to do it and some just don’t want to.

Sometimes the books will have an origin story, sometimes not.

If you have a specific book you’d like texturized, please contact me using the form below.
We’ll order the book from either bookshop.org or a bookstore local to me or you, if you have one you’d like to support, and then we can purchase it from your preferred shop.
Then it will come to me, undergo the rigorous texturizing treatment, and then be on its way to you.
So your book will have traveled a bit by the time it reaches you.
